challenge

We are excited to bring two “hot” electro bands to the MILK stage. Combining our new launch of live music, and keeping it danceable, Hot Challenge and The New Humans team up with local electro DJ Mario Muse to make a dance party you won’t forget.

Hot Challenge
http://www.myspace.com/hotchallenge

Hot Challenge is formed of vocalist/guitarist JP Rose, vocalist/keyboardist David Rose, and bassist/vocalist Joe Rose. Hot Challenge is a genre-bending group that combines elements from rock, pop, rhythm and blues, as well as dance music to create a sound that is both unique and intensely catchy. “Electronica that you should dance to. Hot Challenge blends synths, guitars and drum machines to create a party atmosphere.”
- SF Chronicle’s OFF THE RECORD

The New Humans
http://www.myspace.com/thenewhumansmusic
The New Humans are an electro-rock band from Sacramento, CA. Favoring piano and synth over distorted guitars, The New Humans have created a solid west-coast buzz, receiving the “Best Indie Band” award in Sacramento twice. Their single “Fever” is available now on iTunes and their debut EP “Avalanche” is set to release May 2010. “[The New Humans] showcase a range of elegant floating piano themes, heavily distorted percussion loops, synthesizer hooks, walking bass lines and precise, intelligent drum beats.”
- Sacramento News and Review

DJ Mario Muse
http://www.futureuniversal.com
Mario Muse got his first taste of electronica growing up in the Chicago rave scene. Inspired by the thumping sounds of Chicago style techno, drum n’ bass, and house he set out to become a DJ. Mario debuted playing EBM, Punk, and Metal for goth / industrial bars in southern Florida. Mario outgrew Florida and decided to move to San Francisco. He became an instant hit at “Dark Sparkle” and soon was found Djing at some of the biggest goth clubs in the city. He started producing his own events, such as Debauchery at the Stud.

frenchmiami

epicsauce.com is pleased to feature three of our favorite local bands - French Miami, White Cloud and Silian Rail. The show will be free, and we will have $1 PRBs and select $3 pints lined up all night long. Milk Bar is located at 1840 Haight Street @ Stanyan in San Francisco. 21+ with ID.

French Miami
http://www.myspace.com/mrfrenchmiami
Easily one of our favorite Bands in SF and beyond, French Miami cranks out dance-friendly post-punk anthems that you just can’t help but chant along with. Their 2008 self-titled debut is one of our most overplayed albums in recent memory, and the live renditions of tracks from their forthcoming follow up LP point to 2010 being the true break out year for the trio. If you have yet to catch these guys, you are in for a real treat — this is one of the best live bands in the city. Come prepared to dance, and potentially lose your voice.

White Cloud
http://www.myspace.com/whitecloudband
While at home with the fuzzed-out reverb lovers we consistently hype at epicsauce.com, it is no surprise that the Oakland based quartet cite both Spaceman 3 and Neu! as influences — there is a clear love for all things psychedelic here, and a vibe similar to that of the earliest Krautrock pioneers. While we are thoroughly enjoying their 2009 release Eternal Pyramid, the EP does not even begin to capture the overwhelming energy and creativity that drives their live show. This rising local favorite is not to be missed.

Silian Rail
http://www.myspace.com/silianrailmusic
The guitar and drum duo of Robin Landy and Eric Kuhn lie somewhere at the intersection of math-rock and post-rock — think a toned down Hella, with a dash of Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky thrown in the mix. Watching Robin shred on the guitar and Eric absolutely handle the drums is a truly awe-inspiring experience that will leave you wanting more. We expect Silian Rail to convert quite a few new fans at our launch party.

Tricycle Records presents: THE RED VERSE

with

STARRY SAINTS / DELLE VELLUM / DJ TAKEOVER

redverse

THE RED VERSE
Tricycle Records indie pop trio return to the stage after a songwriting hiatus. The Red Verse combine old country influences with a modern pop aesthetic. Former member of Beulah (Danny Sullivan) joins forces with emerging new songwriter/frontman Alex Oneil and Andrew Galluccio to form the indie pop three piece. ‘Like watching The Edge play guitar for Jonathon Richman’, The Red Verse successfully blend the old sun records sound with fresh new wave post punk guitar.
www.myspace.com/theredverse

STARRY SAINTS
Determined to start a new project after the success of earlier projects Allen Davis (Every Move A Picture) and Clint Sargent (The High Violets) started Starry Saints. The idea was to create a confluence of noise, pop, and songcraft. A sound big yet not indulgent, always dynamic, touching on elements of both hifi and lofi. and lyrics laced with melancholy. After a three song demo was completed, keyboardist Jason Wann and bass player Ron Thomas were brought on board. A video shot for the single Go, which won a 94.7 KNRK sponsored contest resulted in their fist show at the Portland Memorial Coliseum opening for The Killers. The band is currently working on their first album and touring the west coast.

DELLE VELLUM
Amazingly rich vocals and a wall of deep and dark guitar sound, Delle Vellum is new to the SF music scene and features ex-members of notable Bay Area bands The Paradise Boys, Madelia and Immigrant.

THE MILK BAR brings you live music with some of the hottest indie rock and electronica bands the Bay Area has to offer!

OPENING NIGHT
WEDNESDAY MARCH 3RD 2010

Graphic1

THE BRUISES
Balancing the tightrope between indie and mainstream rock, THE BRUISES embrace incredibly catchy choruses, dueling female vocal harmonies, and a serrated double guitar attack. Tipping their hats to acts such as Lush, that dog., and Sleater-Kinney, the band has forged a sound that is both unique and timeless.
www.myspace.com/thebruises

EX-BOYFRIENDS
“Infectious and upbeat power pop that is much more fun to experience than any breakup I’ve ever had. Dear John is a danceable and contagious set of music, reflecting themes of naïve love and schoolboy fantasy through sharp lyrics, howling vocals, and firm instrumentation.” –Treblezin
www.myspace.com/exboyfriends

THE DOWNER PARTY
“If I was walking across the mountains near Lake Tahoe, and say I was hungry, there would be no other band I’d rather eat than The Downer Party. They’re young and have the feel good party indie rock vibe. Lead singer Sierra also did vox for Elephone and she’s well on her way to holding the torch as San Francisco’s premiere female rocker to watch catapult to international celebrity.” -SF Chronicle
